The slowing down of the economy has taken its toll on Internet business. According to Hitwise, there has been a decrease of traffic on people visiting to online retail websites. Obviously this is a direct impact of the financial crisis that grips the world. Hitwise also noted, however, that buying trend on beauty and personal care products and home and garden have not been affected. It appears the obsession of making oneself attractive cannot be suppressed by economic crisis. Nevertheless, there have been an upsurge of interests on where to buy a website as many people are now keen on doing business online.

People should not stop buying just because there is a global financial crisis. The problem will further worsen when there is an absence of cash flow in the market. When people stop buying, manufacturers would cut their production quota, and when such situation happens, some people would lose their jobs.

To boost economic activity, the government should encourage people to spend their money – of course for the right purpose. Hoarding cash in someone’s pillow will only hurt the national economy.
