Many politicians are still living in the 50s. They don’t use emails and they have never used any Web 2.0 websites. The old long line of politicians had missed the bus.
The Internet is today’s most powerful strategy in reaching out a wider spectrum of audience. If you’re a political leader and you want your message to get across its target audience, use the Internet as your medium. Barack Obama did. And he won.
According to Pew Internet, most Internet users are age 18-29. We have a young Internet population who may not be inclined to get involved in politics, or even shun going to voting centers on election day. By tapping them and digging them out of their digital enclave, a politican can muster an intelligent and feisty supporters.
Obama’s victory in the recent US election can be largely attributed to his maximation of Internet capabilities. In today’s political strategy, the rules have changed and every political leader is welcome to play by it.
